Background:
George VI (born Albert Frederick Arthur George; Sandringham, 14 December 1895 – Sandringham, 6 February 1952) was king of the United Kingdom and other British overseas Dominions from 11 December 1936 until 6 February 1952, the day of the death of he. He was the last Emperor of India until August 15, 1947, while retaining the title until June 22, 1948. He was also the last British ruler to be king of all Ireland; in fact, although Ireland had become a republic in 1937, the sovereign nevertheless maintained control until 1949 and the title of him until his death. He was the father of the current sovereign Elizabeth II and her sister Margaret. He was born from the union between the Duke of York, who later became King George V, and Princess Mary of Teck, second child after his brother Edward.
