Ivan Minčov Vazov Sopot, June 27, 1850 – Sofia, September 22, 1921 was a Bulgarian poet, novelist, playwright and politician.

A much celebrated author in his homeland, considered the "patriarch of Bulgarian literature", Vazov was certainly the greatest exponent of Bulgarian poetry of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, also for the influence of his artistic production in his contemporary literary environment and for the commitment that he lavished for the cause of his country's national independence.
