Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Al-Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Almarhum Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien (born July 15, 1946 in Brunei Town) is the current Sultan of Brunei, the 29th in chronological order, as well as the first and current First Minister of Brunei. Eldest son of Omar Ali Saifuddien III and Pengiran Anak Damit, his sultanate began on October 5, 1967, after his father's voluntary abdication.

Holder of absolute power, he is the second longest serving head of state in the world. His assets amount to 20 billion dollars as of 2018.
