Background:

This liberty style coin features the head of minerva, on the obverse, depicted on the front with the minimum of reliefs. The opposite heads, already uncommon on ancient coins, where there was no limit to relief, were completely abandoned on modern ones, in which the relief must be minimal so as not to surpass that of the edge to allow the coins to be stacked. With this production, the Johnson factory proved to be at the level of the ancient monetary factories.
The gold specimens were delivered to the High Personalities who attended the inauguration.
